SERVPRO Takes Out the Moisture After Water Damage

Water Removal Equipment is Essential to Restoration

When dealing with just about any amount of water damage, we have to employ some sort of drying process early on in the job. Without proper drying, a wet area is susceptible to further damage and cannot be adequately worked on and restored, and so we must employ the fastest, most efficient, and most thorough drying equipment possible to improve our efficacy and speed in a water damage restoration. We utilize a number of advanced technologies and types of machinery in an average job for the purposes of drying, each one useful for a different situation or in tandem with other machines.

Air Movers
One of the most common devices we bring along to Cleveland water damage jobs is the air mover, a machine that does exactly as its name implies and moves large volumes of air in a room. These machines are, essentially, very powerful and accurate fans that are designed to set up precise air flows in an area. Air moving at high speeds over a wet surface can pick up water droplets and increase the humidity of the room, without depositing those droplets on other surfaces.

Refrigerating Dehumidifiers
Once all the water is in the air, it hasn't yet left the room. It's still there, and will eventually settle back down onto surfaces if not removed. That's where dehumidifiers come in. Many of our dehumidifying machines rely on refrigeration to cool down a room and lower its dew point, forcing water to condense into a holding tank. It can't settle on the surfaces of the room, as those will still be subject to air movers, and thus is easily corralled into a manageable container.

Chemical Dehumidifiers
These devices operate on a similar principle to refrigerating ones but utilize chemical compounds to capture the water instead of simple temperature manipulation. Typically, these machines are employed where the temperature cannot be effectively manipulated, but are still able to function almost everywhere a refrigerating machine can.

Specialty Dryers
We also have specialty drying machines in our possession or available through local contractors. These are used for different types of items, such as electronics or clothing, that must go through special drying procedures.
